Event Summary
A cosy and casual evening in our series of discussion dinners, this time in partnership with the Advanced Engineering Show. We'll be bringing together a cross-sector group of senior R&D executives with leading engineering experts, with talks on a new methane-powered engine and the Virgin Hyperloop One.

Innovation DB is proud to be a Headline Partner of the UK's largest engineering show and we are delighted to be hosting the Technology Leadership Innovation Discussion Dinner. The drinks reception will begin at 6pm, followed by dinner at 7pm.
We will be joined by two distinguished speakers, describing their work on a new methane-powered engine, and the Virgin Hyperloop One, respectively.

Methane-powered engine
Andrew Atkins, Global Technical Lead at Ricardo Innovations
As methane is one of the cleanest burning hydrocarbons, an eco-friendly and efficient methane-powered engine holds powerful potential for reducing environmental impact as well as expanding energy options. Andrew Atkins will talk about his work on this ground-breaking new engine from Ricardo Innovations, and how various industries can make use of the engine to transform their waste methane into valuable fuel. |

Virgin Hyperloop One
Steve Carden, Transport Innovation Lead at PA Consulting
Hyperloop is one of the most exciting transport innovations in 100 years. PA Consulting is at the heart of this transformation, helping Virgin Hyperloop One to solve its most complex challenges. Steve Carden will talk briefly about what hyperloop is, what PA are doing to help, and where the UK supply chain can potentially play a role in making hyperloop a reality. |

Andrew Atkins, Global Technical Lead at Ricardo Innovations
Andrew is a business and technical innovator with expertise in identifying technology gaps in markets and then blending new and existing technology streams to provide novel solutions and then deliver the marketing strategy that turns these into successful business streams. His specialties include thermodynamics, dynamics, cryogenics, vacuum, high voltage, and magnetic design. Andrew also holds 50 patents in disciplines including cryogenics, magnetics, and structures.
Steve Carden, Transport Innovation Lead at PA Consulting
Steve leads PA's work on Transport Innovation, with a specific focus on new transport modes and technologies. Steve has over 20 years' experience in research and analysis of new technologies and products. A Systems Engineer, Steve has worked with Virgin Hyperloop One to define the systems engineering at the heart of the system; with Network Rail to create the underlying business cases for adoption of new technologies; with the UK Department for Transport to roll out smart ticketing on the lines into London and with Highways England to define the technology strategy for 2050.
